In the meantime, the application of conventional laser printers which will gradually replace the Dot-Matrix System is widely spread. There are intentions and even scattered regulations which plan to have a 2D-barcode in the address field in order to guarantee a tracking at courier’s site. With this, the whole PIN-printing process would have to be changed in the medium term. Besides back tracking, an acceleration and simplification of the mailing process will naturally be enabled. Regarding the marketing point of view – especially when it comes to the realization of the corporate design – this procedure is brilliant and well suitable for the individual design of a PIN-letter. Customer specific designs for specific labels in different security levels can also be used in order to cover the PIN.
Here, several different procedures are applied:
The PIN Handling System PHS-SL uses standard laser paper which is equipped with a special matrix on the back side. As soon as a label is affixed on top of the PIN, the PIN is no longer visible on the back side.
The most secure procedure is guaranteed by using the PIN Handling System PHS-DL where a label is affixed after printing of the letter by ink-jet. In a second step, the PIN is printed on this label. Immediately afterwards, the second label is attached on top of the PIN. The PIN is now no longer visible and absolutely secure in between the two labels.
